The ship’s bell was used to signal the ship’s watch; a system to divide the day up equally into shift patterns for the ship’s crew.

Combined here with a traditional, but quartz operated, clock mounted on a mahogany-stained board.

Both instruments are solid brass and lacquered to protect their highly polished finish.

Board measures 12 x 5½".

About Nauticalia

Nauticalia began in 1974, as a floating marine antiques shop in a converted rubbish barge on the River Thames at Shepperton. Lynn Lewis, an ex-BBC television reporter, and his wife Val, also a journalist, were the founders. As stocks of nautical antiques rapidly diminished, Lynn commissioned a batch of ten detailed replicas from a specialist metal works, and thus began Nauticalia's famous range of reproduction boating and shipping memorabilia.
